Call me a noob if you want to, it's fine with me. I have searched.

Anyways, I just got a Peavey 6505 real cheap (had to buy it now because it was the last cheap one they were selling). I'm planning on getting a cab for it when I have the money, we are talking about a month or two. So I have the head sitting here besides me, including all my awful thoughts and fears about doing anything. There is a "preamp out" on the head, and I was just wondering if it's safe to connect that to anything, using a any cable? I know that I shouldn't turn it on with no cab connected, but is this safe if I connect my headset/something into the preamp out?

Is there basically any safe way I can make it scream without a cab, or do I simply have to wait until I can get one?

I wouldn't do it. You want to have it hooked up to a speaker load while it's on. If you don't, there's a good chance you will short the amp. I know Fender amps protect themselves from shorting if they aren't hooked up to a load, but I still wouldn't risk it.

Allright guys, I'll wait until I can get a cab then. Thanks for the advice!
