Ok, so here's the deal.
my band is upgrading amps,
i got lucky and happened upon a 6505
my other guitarist is struggling,
it looks like we're going to have to go with a valveking.

what pedals can we invest in to make it have
more gain and what not?
or is there another amp we should look at?
tube only, please

thanks

Don't get a valveking, the distortion on it is just really muddy, but it might work a little better since you're gonna use pedals.

Still, look into a Windsor, unless you want a combo. In which case, a EHX Metal Muff or Ibanez/Maxon Tubescreamer would work peachy.

Are you pondering what I'm pondering pinky?

Pinky
I think so, Brain, but where would we buy rubber pants at this hour?

Disagree. Get a ValveKing, swap tubes out.

Tung Sol 12AX7 and two EH 21AX7s should fit the bill perfectly. Keep the Ruby preamp tubes, they're not bad.

I was just playing my VK112, getting some meaty and articulate distortion with great pinch harmonics. Stepped on the switch to almost crystal clear cleans, plenty of punch. Depends on your style and how you EQ them.

Good idea. Or a Randall RG50 whatever. (Tube combo)
