Well did you use the right gauge for the right note? Also, why not EADGB?

Where did you get the EADGC? Isn't the C supposed to be a B if you were tuning regularly in the first place? Or did you stop then realize you were tuning incorrectly? Lol.. I would say there shouldn't be anything that needs adjusting but to be safe, but the tuning back to normal, let it sit a few minutes, play something, check tuning again.

because then all the strings are tuned to fifths.

Yes, if you have standard .130-.045 5 string strings it will be too much tension on your neck, causing either a string to snap or your neck to bow. Or both.

Get a correct set. Now.

lmfao
there are alot of ppl hurr who dont know how to tune a 6 string

haha
buy a 6 string pack and just dont use the B

Q: why EADGC not EADGB

A :CAUSE THATS HOW ITS DONE

when Moses brought down the plagues upon Egypt one of them involved Behringer amps

Dont be so humble, your not that great....

Okay, there seems to be ignorance galore in this thread. First, they do not tune it to B because they want to keep it tuned entirely in fourths and keep patterns going throughout the neck. and since basses don't generally need easy chord ability they've found that a C is more effective, with less of a learning curve.
Second, basses are tuned in fourths if you go EADGC, but if you look at it as going CGDAE then it's going down in fifths.
Third, you NEED to get a proper EADGC set NOW! I would say before you do anything, what you need to do is detune that back to BEADG.

now, now, of course EADGC is the standard tuning if you're tuning you're fifth string up, but theres nothing wrong with experimenting, no where does it say you have to tune it EADGC, at one point i had my bass tuned EADGB, because at the time i was also starting to get into guitar a bit, but i've since left that, and i changed it back to EADGC, and more recently back to BEADG

but yea, get the correct strings, the neck will get a terrible bow if you leave those strings in there, you can also buy a 4 string set, and then buy the 5th string (usually around a 40 gauge or so), sometimes you'll have trouble matching up the types of strings though, so buying a 6 string set might work better

ok.. well i tuned it back to normal coz having it set to EADGC wont let me do some of the songs i have and i thought if i want it set like that why dont i just play my 4 string.. so im just gonna leave it at BEADG and now that ive tried high c i dont like it anyway and would rather standard 5.. so thanks guys
