BTW, you didn't have to start two topics. You could've asked in the same one. And don't bump after an hour.

They're okay, I guess. I'd get different ones, myself. I don't like the JB, and I'm gettin' sick of my Jazz.

I'd really only buy the Vintage '59's from GFS, myself. Maybe a Fat PAF.

hmm so you're saying tht for the sound im looking for the vintage 59 and fat paf would be the best?

Well, they don't really have a specific sound, to be honest. No tones out of this world. The GS combo I mentioned should be fine.
First, I'd email GFS, and find out what kind of magnets are in the Fat and Crunchy PAFs.
Then report back here.
I think that an Alnico V/5 pickup in the bridge would be a fantastic choice.

If you were to do Duncan...SH-1 in the neck, SH-14 in the bridge.

ok so if i go with the vintage 59 and the fat paf which should i get for the bridge and which for the neck?

thanks alot man, yeah ive been reading the refinishing sticky and the links like all day to see what all was out there
i also thought about maybe just doing a natural wood guitar and maybe put a nice stain on the wood, but i cant find much that talks about the time process involved in that do you know if that would be easier than painting it

yeah im thinking of doing that then if i sand the paint off and the wood looks good enough because then i should be able to do it over christmas break. i could still make it pretty sick with some new pups and some new black hardware

tung oil on a bare wood body???????

u can do that? i thought tung oil (and other sealers) were for sealing the neck... and I'd clear coat my body with lacquer, but it's all up to you.
