Im unsure why different tabs in completely different spots with different chord names sound the same. I know enough about music theory to understand this and I have no reason not to know it.

for example:

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/c/coldplay/the_scientist_ver6_crd.htm

Thats 3 different types on those two tabs that sound alike with different chord names. Why?

The chords are all really the same they just "look" different because of the capo and people writing them.

Well i didn't look too closely at each tab, but i did notice one was an acoustic version, one is with capo, and one is w/o.

capo. maybe a few of the chords are different extensions... i notice that one tab says Dm and the other says Dm7... they could be hearing it differently... the m7th could be in the piano, or the bass... who knows?
