Anyone know any good metal bands that use keyboards?

and yes I used the search botton and went through a bunch of pages...

Id have to say the best one would be children of bodom, a couple of their best tunes would be lake bodom, needled 24/7, mask of sanity, towards dead end, and are you dead yet?
#7
No I already listen to COB and I'm not that big into Van Halen...

bands I listen too that are similar are

Children of bodom

Dream Theater

Symphony X

I'm talking about around maybe Gothic Metalish...

But something like Bodom without being bodom...

Royal Hunt

can't believe this band doesn't get more recognition
I’m not the man I used to be, I... I can’t go back to Arkham.

I... I should return to Arkham.

I have come home to Arkham.

Pretty much all metal bands use keyboards in the mixing process of their albums, but I presume you mean keyboards taking a larger part.
Iron Maiden's Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is pretty good, although it doesnt lean that heavily on keyboard parts. Somewhere In Time has guitar and bass synths, which is a similar effect.

Otherwise, Dream Theater

Warmen (Children of Bodom's keyboardist's side project - more keyboards than guitar)
Sonata Arctica
Wintersun
Stratovarius

I could mention lots more, but you said gothic metal up there, and the ones I listed already arent gothic, so I'll leave it at that (though you should definitely check out Warmen).

And you're obviously here because you fancy Phill.
Phill is a very attractive guy...

"I'm so tempted to sig that, Phill" - Sig it then

Unless otherwise stated, assume everything I say is in my opinion.

You should really go to the Metal Rec thread TS.

Kalmah comes to mind though.

I can't believe i'm the first person to mention Dan Swano.

Listen to Edge of Sanity - Crimson II and Dan Swano - Moontower. Orgasmic keyboard work.

I'd say the best keyboard stuff can be found in most prog metal and melodic death metal/Gothenburg metal. However, it's safe to say that all metal bands use keyboards to a degree, at least when recording.

Opeth's Ghost Reveries uses keys.

I don't see how Nightwish are often classified as "gothic" metal. I like them, don't get me wrong, but they can be, shall we say, cheese on a stick? (A.K.A. Power metal.)

Anyways, for the gothic type stuff, I'd say the OLD Cradle of Filth. (Up until Midian. Personal song recs from me would be: Saffron's Curse, Cthulhu Dawn, Bathory Aria, A Gothic Romance, Malice Through the Looking Glass, The Black Goddess Rises, and The Forest Whispers My Name. [The version from VEmpire is more symphonic, and overall better imo.])

Another good band would be Dimmu Borgir. (Best recs would probably be the later stuff, such as Sympozium, The Insight and the Catharsis, Progenies of the Great Apocalypse, Eradication Instincts Defined, and Når Sjelen Hentes Til Helvete.)

Anorexia Nervosa (The Shining and Sister September,) ChthoniC (Quasi Putrefaction,) Graveworm (the entire Scourage of Malice album,) and Dark Tranquillity (particularly the Projector album. Great with the piano work, especially with the first 4 songs, and ESPECIALLY FreeCard.)

Yeah, I gave plenty of recs. They go on forever. (And yeah, Children of Bodom are another good one.)

If you're looking for gothic metal Entwine has some pretty good use of keyboards, in general I think Vesperian Sorrow uses them very tastefully

+1 to Dark Tranquillity.
I've decided that my signature is terrible. I'm open to suggestions.

Daath uses keyboards. Fairly new band. The other day I heard The Hinderers and I quite liked it.

Ooo, I forgot to mention Bal-Sagoth.

Download Callisto Rising, it's quite boner-inducing.

Wintersun. Epic. And sooo much better than Bodom. Dark Tranquillity puts on a clinic for keyboards in a metal band for most...

Skyfire, Satariel (very subtle on Satariel)...

Too many black metal ands to list.
