I've been up for the past 28 hours with nothing to do, spending about half of that time on here. So, who else has had their teachers go on strike? The stupid **** the teachers have been doing is ridiculous. If you have ever seen a strike, you can probably relate- blocking school buses, milk trucks, substitutes, and students driving to school, and then other things like throwing nails on the road and the teachers letting themselves get "run over." If a van of subs is coming towards you, MOVE! I can't stand the teachers who will stand and get hit just so they can file a lawsuit against the company who's taking charge of substitutes and security, and most of the security were fired for not being certified! I could go on and on, but there is so much to this I know you'll never read it. Has your school/workplace ever gone on strike? If we get a discussion going, I can explain myself a bit more, but I know most of you will probably not even read this much.

No, we are excused for the near future. We went on strike the 7th, so last Tuesday was my last day.

Yea, the school board got a court order determining where and how they could picket at. It's amazing to see a group of older adults asking like immature assholes.

I remember the TA's (Teachers Assistants), janitors, and secretary went on strike at my school and made a HUGE deal about it. It solved absolutely nothing and boy were they embarrassed when they got back lol. The TA I had for science didnt speak for a week afterwards to any of the students or the teacher.

Ahh, I remember that. I think I was in the same grade too. It was nothing but videogames and staying up late for like a month! Good times, good times.

You're a lucky ****. Although, none of my music teachers would go on strike- Berkley and Comps are only a month or two away!

Lucky bastards... my school system is too big for all the teachers to get together and organize a strike..

Yea, it's mainly the budget. However, the school board is spending more on the subs and the security than if they just went ahead and gave the teachers a raise! We are so broke as a district, and yet we are spending excess money just so our board can be the stubborn assholes they are and stand their ground.

So...why did they go on strike? Your post was kind of unclear.

For having the job of teaching the youth that will one day run this country, most teachers are treated like absolute **** by school boards and the government. They are under payed and have to follow pointless procedures that take away time from learning.

The teachers want more money, cheaper health care, and I think just want some changes in the administration. Go here: wtov9.com
and you can see how many things there are and have been wrong with our district.

No, only the Irgun are on strike, only around a half of the schools are actually on strike.

All of the schools in my area aren't on strike though =\.

And TS, I think the teachers have a point, and you shuold be more supportive of them.

Me too!!

It wasn't as intense as TS's strike though, they picketed in the morning before school in front of the school, and then came in and taught.

haha, this reminds me of Hey arnold.

Isnt illegal for them to bet THAT aggressive whle picketing?

in the USA you have the rights to do whatever you want, as long as you don't interfere with the rights of others (ie stopping people from getting from one place to another, damaging tires, etc)
