So who here has been to an IMAX theater in the course of their life? In case any of you don't know what IMAX is, it's a movie theater but, the screen is 6 stories high and I think 90 feet wide. It's so big you feel as if you are really there and you are given a warning in case you become queasy. They also offer movies in 3D(Crazy!).

Anyway, there will be a poll and I was also wondering if you guys have IMAX in Europe and other countries.

EDIT: I just realized I forgot the poll........

I have been to the IMAX in the Science Center in Balboa Park - it's life changing how cool everything looks on a huge dome screen.

We only go to them for 3d movies, my personal favourites were:

An underwater one in which you followed a turtle around for half an hour, even though it felt like 2 hours... And you'd see cool stuff/shit bricks when sharks popped out and started darting at you..

And a weird satanic horror house type thing, I don't remember much but the fireplace scared the hell out of me.

haha i saw that fish movie it was awsome. I also saw soem egypt movie where there's this scene when the camera moves along the nile at a hgih speed and I almost threw up.

Theres an Imax in a museum in Dallas with a huge curved screen thats pretty cool. But a lot of threaters built in the last few years have screens just as good as imax and are a lot cheaper too.

HOLY SH*T ME TOO!!! It took the epicness (if thats even a word) of 300 to a whole new level!

One of my mates, is part of the cheer squad for a greek soccer team. The cheer squad booked out the whole cinema and brought trumpets and whistles and stuff to go mental while watching 300.

Ahhh those crazy greeks...

You went to the Tech Museum one, right? That's a one-of-a-kind IMAX, with the whole domey thing going on.

Nope, most are just big flat screens. The dome kind are rarer.

Star Wars Episode 3 at midnight on the IMAX. It was cool. Bet 300 would also be darn sweet. I also saw some scientific movies and the remake of King Kong.

Some films seem to be enhanced by it, others, it seems to detract from them.

I've seen some really cool documentaries at the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, but I haven't seen an actual "movie."

I too have been to the theatre in Hutchinson. It's a very nauseating experience if you are not used to the concave screen.

I've seen a documentary about the Galapagos Islands on an Imax once.

It's insane how big it is. We have a couple in my city I think, but only one I know for sure.

I saw all 3 of the LotR movies in IMAX. I sat in the 1st row for the last one. And I had to pee at the "end." That movie had five endings. After the movie, I slipped on a puddle of my own urine as I was running to the bathroom.

I watched a documentary while on a field trip at the Franklin Institute. They previewed something about Egypt and when the camera shows these huge aerial shots of the pyramids at this amazing speed, it seriously feels like you're flying. And the documentary we watched was about bugs in the rainforest, so naturally, the first shot is of this praying mantis all huge on the screen and all you hear is screams from about fifty girls.
