I'm playing through a B-52 AT-100 and I just can't get that really heavy high gain sound. I can get gain but it's doesn't have the punch i'm looking for. It's great for rock, like Black Stone Cherry, but i'm talking about Pantera, Lamb Of God, Metallica type stuff. So would it make more sense to get just say a Boss Metalcore pedal or save up more and get a multi effects thing with a lot more effects so I don't have to keep getting pedals in the long run. The ones i was looking at were the:

Are these any good? Which is the best out of those? Best distortion channel? Anything better out there? Best other effects? Is it worth it to get one?
Thanks for any help.

The POD can get pretty much any type of OD sound you want. Probably the best choice here.
The Vox Tonelab.....dont touch it. Please.
The boss GT series will give you any Boss distortion sound....if thats what you like.
The Boss ME-50 is pretty much a cut down GT.....probably the better of the two Boss options in terms of value.

If I were you though, I'd probably get a DS1, and use it as a booster on you OD channel. Just set the DS1 at about 11 oclock on the tone, and about 3 o clock on the Dist. Scoop your amps EQ a little and bump up the prescence and Bass.

/\ why do you say that about the tonelab? I'm curious because I was looking into one and heard good things.

Well to be perfectly honest, I didnt get to try it out for too long, but I wasnt generally impressed by whats on offer. Everything sounded pretty digital, there wasnt any real dynamics to any of the sounds, despite the 12AX7 in there. The sounds are "technically perfect", but just sound far too digital for me. Sorry.

Cool, thanks for the input. I'll keep it in mind if I ever think about a multi-effect for myself

No problem. I should say though, you should try it out for yourself. It might suit you, im just into some old-school tones.
