I was wondering if anybody had any advice for me. I wanted to add heavier gauge strings to my Fender strat, but he guy at Guitar Center told me I shouldnt put anything higher than .10 on mine because anything heavier can bow the neck, but I know for a fact that famoust strat players such as Stevie Ray Vaughn and Dick Dale used very heavy strings on theres, I dont know if perhaps they had a stronger neck or truss rod or what, I was just wondering if anyone could help me out.

srv used .013

altough he also used another 2 spring in the bridge and always tuned in E flat

i wouldn't recommend anything heavier than 10 though (for standard) 11 and 12 sounds better for downtuning (D flat, standard D) it gives you a really deep sound
