So, I dropped by Guitar Center last week to try some amps. I've been looking for an amp good for blues/soloing/some metal, and just anything else really. This Fender amp caught my eye. 100 watt, $300. However, it's not LOUD enough, so if I am getting this I'll be getting a noise supressor as well, which adds about $120, and tax, so I'm guessing around $450 total.

So, there is this option... OR

I REALLY want Guitar Hero 3. However, my friend already has it. I was thinking about just getting the guitar controller, if possible, or just get the guitar controller and the game for about $150 (which is how much he got it for, with warranty or whatever). And I would probably ask for the amp+pedal for Xmas.

So... after reading that somewhat long issue... what do you think? Please give me a thorough opinion. Thanks UG

EDIT: And I have a job... working on select days.

Or better, have your friend get Rock Band, and play that at his house, then get an amp by yourself!

What good would that do..? Note that he has it for the Wii, which Rock Band will probably not show up on, sadly...

Oh. Then I'd get an amp, because GH hurts my hands (damn the 5th button!)

Wait, 100 watts not loud enough? For what? If you're a gigging musician that for some reason needs more than 100 watts, your priority should definitely be on the amp over a videogame, which is a more reasonable christmas request.

Get the amp. Playing real guitar > Guitar Hero

And besides, if you've played GH2, you're not missing much from gh3. I personally believe that the soundtrack to gh2 is much better than gh3.

That depends on where you're gigging, but IMO, even 50 watts should be good enough for anything that you will ever do. Why? Because if you ever play somewhere that requires more volume than a 50 watt amp can produce, the venue is likely to have its own PA system, or the event will likely have rented a system.

Well, what kind of amp is it? Ive got a Fender Frontman 212 (100 watts), and ive used that for everything from practice to opening baseball games. 100 watts is enough power for almost anything.

Oh, I meant "loud" by being able to play loud without feedback.

Most amps get feedback as far as I know, but its probably not a good idea to stand close enough to the amp to generate feedback when you're playing that loudly anyway. Peavey Bandit! Cheap, incredibly versatile and VERY loud. I've only ever turned the volume up as far as 5..

It's stereo amp, and I don't think it's tube. However, for a stereo amp, it is very good. Don't plug guitar into it; just use it as hi-fi if it works.

Well I pretty much decided this...

I'm gonna get Guitar Hero 3 this week, then the next week I'm gonna get the amp, but I'm thinking of something other than the Fender... I hear there are some amps that are like around $300 or so. Perfect.
