ok, so im gettin ready to build a guitar, and i love the finish with oak wood. but im not sure why anybody else uses it. any reasons??

Thats because there probably isn't any reasons to use it. From what I know, the fact that oak is so hard makes the tone a bit weird... Im not sure though exactly, ill look it up on google, then post again.

Edit: I found this:

"Oak has good rep for necks and fingerboards (around here anyway). Not as good for body. It's said to have a "narrow" resonance frequency spectrum."

Try ash. Looks the same. Cost a little less and it's a tone wood. And easer to work with.
