Ok, so when I try to record something, for some reason the tone coloration doesn't come through the recording. Meaning, if I record with a distortion, when I play it back, it's clean.

Anyone have a solution?

BTW, when I try to record like this with Gearbox, it comes out fine. Only Guitar Rig gives me this.

Audacity has really crap VST support so don't expect VSTs to work well at all.
I've developed a complex where everytime I hear a Lamb of God song, I burst out laughing

Any recommendations for a different recording software?

Didn't you get Ableton Live! with your toneport? If you didn't, i think the Le version is a free download for toneport users
If you have a mac, garageband is your best bet

Yes, it does. Even LE.

Maybe try Wavesaur to record, save as a .WAV then transfer to Audacity?

actualy in that case, he could just record directly within guitarrig and export that to audacity.

Actually that would work pretty well since guitar rig has recording and lets you use backing tracks, but you then can't directly use it in conjuncton with other VST plugins.
