I heard rumors that the song "The Dagger" by Roadrunner United's all star team used a Line 6 POD XT on the rythm guitar tracks.

Is this true? Because I've been looking for a direct recording solution since my amp sounds like crap when i mic it. If it was used on a professional recording and sounds that good, i'm buying it.

i think they did, because i have the cd/dvd and jeff waters never plugged into an amp for the solo

it looks like the cord went into the computer, so maybe they used it

If your amp sounds like crap, you need to experiment with amp placement and EQ.

Guitar modelling is like suicide or hard drugs, it's the easy way for people with no expertise to get reasonably good recordings.

But, of course, there can be no replacement for a good amp and mike combo.

My amp sounds good standing alone, its a randall halfstack, but no matter where i place the SM57 i can't get a sound with clarity or definition. also, the distortion becomes exaggerated when i record so i just want to throw in the white flag and get a pod

gain pretty much HAS to come down when you record because you need less then you think. Also, record the first track distorted to your taste, then back the gain off a touch and record again to get a bit more clarity and definition.

^ there's no pretty much about it.

Gain has to come RIGHT down

And that goes for people who saturate their tone with effects too.

Don't rag Line 6. the POD is absolutely kick ass for recording. Dave Mustain uses them exclusively for recording if that helps. My friend has the Pod X3 and runs it through a tube preamp b4 recording and it sounds just like his Marshall JCM 2000.

For beginners and intermediates, it can be fun. Like myself I don't know **** about recording, except for the basics...but if an expert got ahold of it, it can sound like the real deal.
