I know this will make me sound retarded but here goes: When I tune my guitar (Fender Tele) and I tune it standard it sounds fine but then when I get to around the 14th or so fret it doesn't sound right. I checked with my tuner and it's roughly a step too low, and when I re-tune it to make the 13 fret the right note the open string gets knocked down a step. Any suggestions to how I can fix this would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking maybe something I need to adjust with the neck or maybe new strings?

Thanks for that info, that last link is useful. I just worked out that that might be why my guitar sounds out of tune even on the third fret.

But it's a floyd rose and I have a gig tmrw night - I'm too scared to try and adjust it in case I stuff it up!

A floyd rose on a tele? That's mental.

I think if you change your strings the intonation should fix itself just fine.

Why not just roll around naked in medical waste while you're at it?

Well, a gig is when you do need the intonation to be perfect. You shouldn't stuff it up - just follow the instructions.
