I just bought a Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass and I didn't notice in the store, but now if I am not touching any strings and then I touch one I get a crackle, or a sound like a spark jumping over. This also happens if I touch the bridge.

I'm not sure how this happens since the strings or bridge aren't directly connected to the electronics. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I don't want to go back to the store to replace it unless I really have to since it is a 1.5 hour drive each way.

I opened it up and under the pick guard there are two cables that are soldered onto a metal plate that is screwed into the bass of the body. I checked to make sure that that was on tight and it was, so I don't really know what else to check.

Doubt it is static cause it is pretty loud but, and also if I touch a big metal piece (grounded) and then I touch the strings it happens too, and it happens almost every time I touch it
