Can power chord be used for acoustic guitar playing?

Yes, they just tend to sound kind of lacking. A handy thing about powerchords is that they hold up well under distortion, full chords can muddy up a little and become dissonant. However on acoustic the opposite happens, generally you need those extra tones in there to fill the sound out, powerchords can often sound pretty weak on an acoustic.

yes you can, full chords sound better, but if you do the octave of the root note and maybe add a few other notes into them they sound alright
