I LOVE this video, one of my favorite songs by him.
Just gradually apply less pressure as you go up.

It's stereo amp, and I don't think it's tube. However, for a stereo amp, it is very good. Don't plug guitar into it; just use it as hi-fi if it works.

clapton does that a lot too.

it's just playing:

It's a great song. But are there any techniques that I should use for the slide? Picking, finger placement, etc?

Uh, just barre with the first finger and do what I said in my first post I guess.

Also: the guitar he plays in that video (scotch?) is my favorite of his.
My next guitar will be a replica of that.

Lenny FTW. Lenny has always been my favorite SRV guitar, secondly probably The white lipstick tube one.

Remembering SRV had abnormally strong hands, it is a steep uphill task to try and emulate him note for note. Just try and accumulate styles of other blues players that influenced SRV and remember to keep your own sound in your playing.
For the quick slide down multiple strings, try and find your comfort zone. For example, which finger position is most comfortable for you. I personally use my third finger and bar across for sliding, but some may prefer using individual fingers. Attack the strings directly with the pick and remember when sliding down the neck with your fretting hand that the contact with the fret and the string is consistent throughout.
