I'm thinking about buying a used 5150 combo to replace my spider III 75 watt as my main amp(it's not that i dont like the sound out of my spider i just want somthing louder when i jam and stuff). I know that it will be louder than the spider but how much louder? also how would it sound with my ibanez rg2ex1 and my epiphone goth explorer with stock pickups?

5150 combo is LOUD. I used to have a 200W Sunn SS head before I got my 5150 and the 5150 is just as loud, if not more. Should sound fine with your setup, even if you were playing a really cheap guitar, it would still sound decent as the amp is what gives you most of your tone. Oh and I have a 5150 combo for sale!

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

Yeah, its tube... It will be a lot louder, and sound a lot cleaner at those higher volumes. It will do more than fine!
