hello,

can the external jacks of an amp head be changed to accomodate different Ohms/resistance?

EXAMPLE the head has 4 and 8 ohm external jacks whereas my cab is 16Ohms.

If it can be done, please tell me its very easy

i heard that if the cab has more ohms than the head that it's ok
there will be a small volume loss
but it isn't going to damage anything
no i am not thinking about watts
ohms

well the speakers can be wired together in a different series to change ITS ohms.. i dunno how easy it'd be to change the ohms on an amp head.. :/

instead of having mods move it, just delete this thread and post a new one in the GB&C forum.

no. just didn't bother reading the posts besides the first one.

get another 16 ohmer, maybe another cab and make it 2x12, and wire them in parallel. then get a single jack to connect that and the cab in 8 ohms impedance.

or, just get another speaker that's rated 8 ohms.

ah yea, if its a single speaker, it'd be easiest to just swap it out for a 8 ohm speaker, or whatever your head likes best.

There is a switch you can buy some amps come with it. That allows you to just switch the ohms when you want. I know my amp has one and I have seen them at the tube amp parts sites. Probably alot cheaper than a speaker.
