So has anyone else noticed how badly our system has wandered away from what we were supposed to be? Originally we were an amazing country but something has happened over the years something has rotted our foundation to turn us into what we are now. The government has become exactly what we hated in England in the 1700's we are slowly coming to regulate more and more. The saddest thing is noone seems to care apathy has taken over the countries mind. We are so distracted by Iraq our citizens aren't seeing what is wrong here. The Statue of Liberty has engraved on it "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses...." Well our tired, poor, and huddled masses are here what are we going to do for them? The only people currently benefiting are the already rich. We are no longer the land of opportunity especially considering once you are in poverty there is a 99% chance you will stay in poverty. We must break free of these shackles of apathy. Our founding fathers would be ashamed of what we have become. Look at our health system. The health system actually pays off the president to keep our health system capitalist. We have to do something about this. Democracy is failing. America is going the way of Rome, and nobody sees it. Why are people so willing to accept thier fate and just be led through life as sheep to the slaughter? When will we learn that we have so much more power than the government? Why do we fear our government when it absolutely has to be the other way around?

Ron Paul is a good candidate but our system is so flawed right now people only vote according to party anymore most candidates seem to honestly only choose thier side with what side thier party takes the party idea is so terrible it is just splitting us in half even more.

America was never a democracy.

I mean, c'mon? Only two political parties?

Person A says this and Person B says that, but look up and the strings are from the same puppeter.

America will get on just fine. Further Education in Britain has never been more pricey but the number of people who are going are constantly rising. Why? Promotion of education.

Eitherway, you do live in a democracy, consistuency ruled or not. Just go liberal if you don't like it.

No offence, but until you did you had the issue of Black Civil Rights (or the lack of them). Regulation is needed in certain doses for when the people are simply too stupid to use common sense (ie drugs etc).

Don't point out grammatical errors when you haven't capitalised your own sentence.

But anyway, yeah man, everything you said is right, especially about the fear of your own government. That should only be happening under a dictatorship.

And he's not trying to change the world you dumbarses, just expressing his opinion.

Yeah of course, sorry I obviously agree but forgot to put it in my post...

England is the same, it's like the fact that people don't even go out to vote anymore now....and then all the political parties are all "we need to restore voter trust". What they're actually thinking: "they could be votes for our party !"

It's ridiculous, bring in Soviet government (as in small council, not necessarily socialist). Switzerland have a government comprising a small council, and the Swiss just kick ass to be honest. OR benevolent dictatorship.

What has it ever stood for? If you're about to say things like Freedom and justice then... it's NEVER stood for those things, at least not in deed.

EDIT: And remember, I'm not just hating on Americans most of this applies to Britain too.

You are so right on that Americans have no view on patriotism because I here all the time "I'm a real American I do everything I'm told" (not exactly that but pretty much the just of what they say) And it is like no you are not the whole idea of our country is to question the powers that be to not be this sheep that just follows what the shephards say.

Ahh, fair play.

I meant it in a sense that they went over and wiped out the natives.

THEN some of them decide they want to stop immigration.

I agree, it never stood for them in deed. On paper though, if you could just get rid of corruption, it would be an amazing system. Of course, so would communism, so...touche!

Eh, I'm gonna move out of the country when I turn 18 anyway. I hate this place. The police here are ****ing power mongering pigs who can get away with anything. The corperations and the fundies control everything, and the people are ****ing fat, dumb, and brainwashed.
Only in America could someone like Rush Limbaugh be one of the most popular radio shows when he spouts bull**** constantly all day, and almost no one calls him on it. Only in America could you be labeled a hippie or "unpatriotic" for saying that maybe we shouldn't randomly invade 3rd world countries and bomb the **** out of them. Ugh.
There ain't no moral to this story at all. Anything I tell you very well could be a lie.

Yeah I love how they call you unpatriotic when actually that's more American to call the powers that be out on stuff than it is just accepting what is going on.

The problem is that as a nation, we're afraid to act like adults. We're all stuck in this adolescent phase and are afraid to move on.
