Well christmas is coming up and I want to give my bass a better sound. Its a four stringer with a nice body, but the pickups are sorta crappy and im sure the strings are lacking in quality. Also all I is a little guitar practise amp which is no fun. Its a Samick "S90" because it says that at the back of the neck near the tuners haha! Anyway I've been playing bass for only a few months so im not anything special. I want a pretty good tone variety from like Geezer Butler to Rex Brown to slap. I dont need a crazy range just enough for a little bit o' slap. Heres some links to the pictures. My price range is probally somewhere between 200-450 Ill get a better idea soon.

Right, the whole point of the topic...I missed it. I'm not too great with knowledge of pickups, but I played a Schecter bass that had EMG-Hz pickups with an active preamp and the slap tone was beautiful. Unfortunately, I don't know how to switch from passive to active, but I'm guessing that somebody else here would be able to help you out more than I can.
