So, as the title states, I want a pedal that can push my amp to high metal distortion/ shred territory. The box of metal looked prety intereseting, but seemed seemed a bit overpriced. Does anyone have any suggestions between 100-200 USD give of take.

Does it take pedals well?

Oh right, another thing, I want a pedal to have a good bypass (no loss in volume or...tone?). Tone doesn't change when pedal's off.

I personally don't like the lead tones from the MM. Way too thin and harsh...

For shred, you can't beat a good overdrive on top of the amp's own gain. Tubescreamer-type pedals are great for this (Maxon, Keeley modded, etc..), as is the MXR Zakk Wylde overdrive (don't be put off by the endorsee!), and the DOD YJM overdrive (though without good EQing it can sound pretty harsh).

YOu can't get a good shred tone with the OCD? Strange, I can get one with my Tubescreamer quite easily. Try edging back the bass a little and upping the mids and treble, quite alot of gain...seriously, you should be able to get there as good as just with the amp ^^

And what better way to waste away the silly hours... Anyway, nice to have some British company!

Have you tried using the OCD as a makeshift clean boost? Put the volume all the way up, and the gain way down. I do that with my Sunn and Bad Monkey, and can get a good PG tone with the amp's gain on five. My amp does have more built in gain than the Rocker, but you should still be able to get there.

Haha yeah, a combination of Facebook, Ultimate Guitar and university notes take up my early hours haha. My flatmates get annoyed at me playing my acoustic at stupid oclock though >.<

Where abouts in Birmingham are you? I'm not far out, you know Cannock?

Pretty much the same deal for me. Plenty of Sopranos, and I get alot of transcribing done as well.
I'm in Selly Oak, at Birmingham Uni. Haven't heard of Cannock though..

Cannock...as in the Cannock Chase? Where everyone goes dogging haha.

I think my mate lives in Selly Oak...near the Pear? I've got a promoter asking my band to gig there but I'm living in Sheffield at uni at the moment haha. So inconveniant.

Awesome, the Pear is about 2mins walk from my house. Used to live even nearer! Gigged there a few times myself. Let me know if you ever end up playing there, I'll come along and watch. (Even though indie isn't really my thing.. )

Oh, and apologies to Jinskee for hijacking his thread.

EH metal muff?

No. The Metal Muff is thin, weak, and harsh. The Metal Muff seems to be the answer to everything around here.
