Tone is subjective. Depends who you're asking. I'd give it a 7/10, for metal at least (I used to own one, just sold it for my Mark IV which completely destroys it).

It really depends on what kind of tone you like. It does metal pretty well--like an 8, give or take a point depending on what qualities you look for in metal tone.
