Hey, sorry if this has been done before. Who here loves the final fantasy games. Personally IMO I think they are the greatest games ever created with the best musical score. My personal favorites are FFVI and FFX. Any one else like these games

8 was my favorite. The cards aspect was pretty cool.

I remember watching my friend play FFVII during the summer at summer school. EVERY SINGLE F*CKING DAY. It was boring as hell.
#5
I believe 7 is a good game but it seems to be pretty overrated. IMO number 6 and ten as have way better story lines. I think 7 is hyped up too much but still good
#6
I loved X and VII.

Would anyone that played XII recommend it?

Edit: Yeah, I love the scoring as well. 'To Zanarkand' makes me feel all emotional inside.

I haven't finished it yet, but I've enjoyed it so far....it's not typical of most final fantasies...

12 is really good. Kind of a lame end boss though. Other than that its a good story. also the characters are not that memorable

I really would, I thought the combat was good, the weapon/skill system was amazing and the story really clearcut and engaging for a FF game which are notoriously opaque.
On the downside I suppose there was a lack of clear purpose on occasion and you could end up wandering for hours accomplishing very little

played 7,8 and 10 (and X-2, = ****E!), in order of appreciation, fav. to least:

10
8
7

I wont explain why as it would take ages

I've had 7 for a while, so I have that one beat, several times.
I have 8, 9, and 12, and im thinking of trying to find 10 and 6 somewhere.
For the guy who asked about 12, yeah, I'd reccomend it, I havent gotten too too far, but its not bad. Im loving 9 right now. Just that medieval theme... just love it.

Has anyone ever played the original final fantasy for nes and also does anyone know anything about FF11
#16
FFVII ftw.

That's like one of those things I'll always remember from my childhood; absolutely loving FFVII :p

They're all great. But VI, VII and IX are my favourites.

XII was great too, much better than people give it credit for, but the story and characters could've been a bit better.

But it had Balthier. Balthier effin rocked.

I've played through all of them for the PS and PS2, including the remakes of 1,2,4,5 and 6. My favorites are 7, Tactics, and 10. 12 is a very atmospheric game, with a great storyline. I love the concept of the skillset, but in practice it is flawed because it makes the characters carbon copies of each other. In essence, actually, the characters ARE carbon copies of each other, and their individual storylines, while adding something to the overall plot in many ways, aren't enough to make them memorable in their own right, so you have to strive to make the characters different from one another, which doesn't really matter by the end of the game because you fill out all the skillslots anyway. A lot of fun sidequests and extras, excellent cinematics and graphics altogether, and, as I said, it's very atmospheric, especially when you're out there "levelling up", which I like to listen to Apocalyptica to, so the feeling is enhanced, and thus don't get bored as quickly. I've "beaten the game", but saved before the last area, which you cannot leave, and have tracked down most of the secrets. All I have left to do is defeat Yazimat and Omega Mark XII, as well as fill out the bestiary a little more, as well as the Pirate's Den.

I put the game down for about 6 months, but plan to get back to it over the holidays.

I wouldnt be surprised if the first thing Varg did was sign up for WoW so he could kick some Judeo-Christian ass.

Careful about the score, though. Nobuo has very little to do with this game, musically. I believe only one track was written by him, and the rest he barely contributed.

Ah well...

It's just I haven't played a good console game for a while; or a console game in general, for that matter. Final Fantasy games tend bring that nostalgic feeling.

Final Fantasy 8 was the worst 3 months of gaming ever.

You had some emo kid (Squall) having all these CGI dreamscapes of fields with flower petals flying everywhere and being with that stereotypical quiet, submissive Japanese girl with a stupid Nerf arm gun and Lassie (Rinoa). All those "I'll be waiting...." things pissed me off so much.

Irvine is some transsexual cowboy

Quistis is like one of those pornstar teachers

Zell is Fred Durst with Mike Tyson's facial tattoo

Selphie is just stupid.

And that end movie sequence is like 35 mins long, and you can't skip through it.
#24
Aww, but I loved FF8.
I loved the characters, kinda wish Zell had been the main one.
I honestly love each and every one..

Side note: I also loved the Chrono games, and Legend of Dragoon

RPGs FTW
Wolfie, Moley, Witty, Dgmey, Grundy

chrono trigger and final fantasy have the most beautifually composed music i have ever heard for a video game.

FFXI was like world of warcraft, it had different things that made it slightly better such as being able to be any class as any character, just go to your moogle and u can change, it had a sub job capability after lvl 18, i did not make it to end game, but it did have a story line with it, not that i remember to much about it. but it was fun, it was interesting because the asian servers and american servers were the same, so sometimes u got someone in a group that did not speak any english and had to attempt to use the translators they had built in (which worked for game related things but not so well for anything else like random chatting)

it was good, but the only time i enjoyed it was when i had a controller hooked up to my computer.

other than that i have played just about every Final Fantasy game so far, have all the NES and SNES games translated and on emulator.

it is by far my favorite game series of all time, followed of course, by Zelda (tho zelda is slowly going downhill)
#27
so far i liked all the FFs that i've played.. i think i've played them all too. FF8 was my favorite, because it was the first one i played and i get some nostalgia when playing it. 7 and 9 are good, 10 was okay, 11 doesn't count, 12 was good but i don't think it is really a final fantasy. and of course, 6 for snes was awesome.
