I'm trying to get the sound at the begging on this youtube link http://youtube.com/watch?v=etCGEBW-PKk, very slow unclettered sitar. Does anyone know how much a sitar costs and how to get one or how to get a similar sound. Also im not realy interest in the overall sound of the youtube just the background sitar and only the first 45 seconds or so. Thanks

EDIT: Found a better link... George Harrison lol http://youtube.com/watch?v=NR2fSz_YpM4

Sitars aren't that expensive.

Some pedals will give you a very sitar-esque sound.

Also, in a very brief overview I found some spelling/punctuation errors.

{sighs} Whatever will we do with you, GuitarGuitar...?

I'm actually getting one, so I did a lot of research =)

You can get a 'cheap' one for around $400, but the cheap ones have a lot of problems many times, since they are hand carved and there's less standardization into their manufacture than a guitar. For around $500-$600 you could get one. It's actually kind of a tricky process, so unless you are willing to really get involved with the instrument, it probably isn't the most economical way of doing things. Here's a couple links =P

I know they sell effects pedals that mimic sitar sounds, but they, in my opinion, don't get close. I also saw something like a bridge you can buy for a guitar that gets that string rattly sitar effect. Sitar/guitars also exist...

Probably a question that should be asked in the pit.
