What in your opinion is the most underrated band that was around in the 90's? It doesnt matter if the band is still together today, just as long as most of their albums were out the 90's or if they were started in the 90's. It doesn't really matter just as long as most people would consider it music from the 90's.

In my opinion the band Blind Melon was not recognized in which it should have been. They are deffinatly one of my all time favorites. RIP Shannon Hoon

Screaming Trees
Modest Mouse (their old stuff is amazing)
Cracker
Blind Melon
Porno for Pyros

But by far Screaming Trees...all their records are amazing and I believe the only reason they were not on MTV so much is because the Conner brothers had a weight problem (which does not detract from the music at all)

The Refreshments!!!

I bet non of you have ever heard of their name, but you've probably heard at least one of their songs.

Look 'em up.
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Two of the most underrated bands OF ALL TIME are:

MEGADETH
Tourniquet

Both bands released tons of stuff during the 90's.

...And Ronny James Dio... Poor guys been going forever with little recognition in the mainstream (thank the Devil for Tenacious D).

The Toadies...But the time-span between releases from 'Rubberneck' to 'Hell Below, Stars Above' really hurt them from blowing up the scene inside-out.

As someone else said Modest Mouse. They are well-known now (ever since float on), but a lot of people don't realize they were making great music for 10-15 years before that

Other notable mentions are Sonic Youth, and the Brian Jonestown Massacre. They arent amazing guitarists or anything, but its just some solid/unique songwriting

Agreed. My old drivers ed teacher used to manage bands around Dallas and he knew them personally. Really under rated band.

Mighty Mighty BossTones, even if they formed in '83 their 90's stuff is top-notch. Not that their 80's stuff (Devil's Night Out album) wasnt great, but their 90's stuff was even better.
As for truly 90's bands, Mustard Plug (Another really good ska band), Blind Melon, Soundgarden, and The Offspring.

I was gonna say Foo Fighters but ever since 1997 they got alot of attention.

Agnus∻Dei, the late-90's Visual Kei band.
Why this of all the great '90s visual bands from Japland? I don't know. Someone somewhere said they suck. I like them.
