I love them. But as of yet, there's no official tour/album confirmation. It's nothing but speculation.

I know right?

They're okay, but it gets hard trying to figure out which song it is they're playing at the beginning at times. But i'd still rather listen to them than alot of stuff.

They're a good band. Only have their 70s work, which is brilliant. Not sure, if i want to get their 80s and 90s material (and Stiff Upper Lip) as i have heard it's not as good, apart from the odd song. And good to hear they are finally releasing a new album. It's only been 7 (almost 8) years since their last.
It's gonna be a blue day

Thats great that they are realising a new album...

If you want to hear a modenr day AC/DC check out a band called Airbourne...

Airbourne suck. They're just a really bad tribute band. Some people say Brian Johnson can't sign. This guy just screams and growls. Some of their stuff is good, but you can't listen to them forever. I mean, it would be good if Brian would sing, or anyone that doesen't try to sound like Brian or sream in a brutal way. I just can't stand the singer. He's one of the founding members with his brother, so he's not going anywhere (unless he dies...but you shouldn't wish death, or if he quits)...and that's why they won't succeed.

Mid 80s aren't too good. Ditching Mutt Lange was the worst decision ever.

Overrated, overrated, and... oh... whats that? Overrated.

AC/DC (like many other proclaimed 'best bands of all time') only have a few noteworthy songs, and gained to much mainstream popularity to even be regarded as great. Just like Metallica, and every other band that has sold out over maybe 10 total good songs in their 10+ Discography career.

I just realized I insulted both Metallica and AC/DC in the same post. I shall now wait for fanboys of the boy bands to attack me with poorly thought out insults.

When it comes to music, I won't say overrated. After all, music is for your personal taste. People have different tastes, people like some bands more than others, etc.
AC/DC and Metallica aren't boybands either. Like you said, they only have a few noteworthy songs. Not true. If you mean noteworthy as in the singles, as in what they love to play on the radio, the more popular songs, then you're right.
When you think AC/DC, the songs that come to mind are Thunderstruck, Back in Black, Hells Bells, Shook me all night long, Dirty Deeds, Highway to Hell, TNT, the list goes on. That's what they play on the radio. When you think Metallica, you got Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets, nothing else Matters, One, the list goes on...the stuff that's popular, what they play alot on the radio. If you think those are the only noteworthy songs, the only good songs, think again...for both bands. They have alot of good songs. For AC/DC, if you take a listen to the Powerage album, most of those songs are great. Do they get played on the radio alot? No. Are AC/DC known for most of those songs...no. But, if you ask alot of AC/DC fans that have heard the album, I know alot of them would say it's their favorite...'cause it is mine. In alot of cases, the best songs are what they don't play on the radio...the stuff that's really noteworthy. See? No insults. Just a fair debate, and my point of view.

You bring up a very good point, and I have to agree with you there.

But; I've noticed that Master of Puppets always joins some top 10 list for the 'Best Metal Albums of all Time'. I think that in that perspective they are extremely overrated. Also many of their guitar solo's rank up on the top 100 lists even in the top 10 of those 100 for 'best solo's of all time'. I think that that is also overrated, grossly - although many reader polls are biased disgustingly.

In my opinion, Metallica isn't as good as it is made out to be by its fans. But I hate most popular bands, so there's my personal bias. I think that Metallica is just an average band.

-

Onto AC/DC. I call them a boy band because their songs aren't that top notch either. Hyped, possibly. But it just annoys me that so many good bands get overlooked while AC/DC, Metallica, Aerosmith, and other bands hog the spotlight WELL past a reasonable time.

AC/DC is overrated because it is way to mainstream. Band such as Black Sabbath received notable airplay on the radio, but if you examine their albums (I'm talking Ozzy Era, after that they started sucking bad) almost every song was worth listening to.

IMHO Black Sabbath has the right amount of mainstream in it. It appeals to most people, but still develops a cult fan base that follow it. Iron Man still gets alot of play on the radio, but if you look at the Paranoid album, every song on that album is good.

AC/DC is overrated in my opinion because their songs are not that great, but are made out to be. If you compare their tabs on the guitar to other bands that receive little or no airtime, there is a difference with the notes and how difficult they are to play.

Also thanks for not verbally attacking me, I was really expecting to be drown in a hellfire of angry spam.

The Top whatever solos, songs, albums, bands...all that doesen't mean anything to me. It's personnal preferences. If you take a look at Rolling Stone Magazine Top 500 songs of all time, there's alot you'd dissagree with. It's the reviewer's, the critic's choice, not ours. By example, Respect by Aretha Franklin is at #4. I wouldn't say it's the 4th best song ever. I'd probably be like "Why isn't Stairway to Heaven higher than 19?" Welcome to the Jungle by G n' R is at 467...I'd put it way higher than that.
The reason why people hype up things, is because that's what they like.
By example, there could be this one band, they write great songs, very talented, but someone doesen't like them because they don't have enough powerchords, and have too much solos...so that person prefers another band with alot of power chords and less solos. AC/DC aren't great. They have a basic bass line, a bit of steady drums, a few solos and a few riffs from Angus Young, but I like them.
Personnaly, I think Black Sabbath (Ozzy era) are a better band, but I prefer AC/DC.

In my view Ac/Dc is one of the greatest band ever... "im a rolling thunder, a pouring rain..." ;]
#33
um well you can get angus' tone and sound perfectly with almost any amp that is over 25 watt. look up solodallas on youtube and you will see a man who is the next angus young. just make sure that you have the overdrive off. he never used it except for like riff raff and a few other songs. but yes i agree with you all that AC/DC is the greatest band to ever play on the face of the earth. and as far as the "personal preference" issue goes, yes it is true that people get hyped b/c its what they like. but has it ever occured to you guys that they are mainstream for a REASON? they became big in an era that was dominated by good guitarists, great lead singers, and lots and lots of powerful and moving type of music. AC/DC is mainstream b/c it captured that generation's preferences (which were tuned to all those things) and it is mainstream now b/c those things are coming back. yes, it is "simplistic" but it gets to you. you caqn actually feel whats happening in the music, and that is what makes a good band - reaching the audience.

I love AC/DC. It all started with Highway to Hell - when the album first came out. Angus plays with a lot of feeling and I like his phrasing. I think their best album is Back in Black. AC/DC rules. I saw them in 1990.

Do you like Johnson or Scott? How about Phil Rudd vs. Alex Van Halen?

Sad that they are losing in the music polls.

AC/DC rocks. You Shook Me All Night Long was the first solo i ever learned. Im deffinately getting the new album.
