just pull

If its metal, use soft nosed pliers, if its plastic, use a piece of cloth to pull from underneath.

Jenny needs to sow her wild oats with random Gibsons and Taylors she picks up in bars before she settles down with a PRS.

ok i asked because on new strats, sometimes the protective guard plastic gets caught under the knob and causes friction.

not the case with ur guitar.

i suggest u take a thin sock, slip it under the plastic knob, and pull up the knob like a sling shot.

that will work unless it's the type of knob with a little locking peg on the side.

once the knob is off, rotate the pot stem, see if the problem is more obvious.

if not, flip it over, open the control cavity and add a small amount of contact cleaner with lube in the hole between the pot and guitar wall. being careful not to get any one the guitar's paint. let dry before using the guitar.

could be a bad pot, sorry, not that hard to fix, but on a new guitar, is a problem.
