i've been playing for like 2 months and have learned a few songs, no solos yet. i still haven't taken the time to learn any chords or scales. i don't want to pay for lessons. any advice on what I should start learning? i'm guessing scales and chords =X

Yep.

Chords first - the major and minor chords.

Once you've got those perfect then look at the Major Scale and Bar Chords.

Start with major and minor chords then work on bar chords so you can move down the neck more easily... then focus on scales to work on speed. Go to a music store and buy some books for beginners... they usually have many chords listed and scales to learn.

learn scales then make picking, finger and timing excercises out of them
