I just started a band and were covering a song. What are the options to record it so its a file so we can put it on our myspace?

1. go to a studio, record it, get the cd, then put it on myspace.
2. record it on tape, transfer it to cd, then put it on myspace.
3. take a video, put it on youtube, then put it on myspace.

so what would be best idea for a group of high schoolers?

ask around when you go to local band's shows and ask them where a decent place to record is nearby.

you might end up driving two blocks, you might end up driving two hours. it depends.

how much would it cost to record one song and just get one cd made? Approximately.

if you guys get it done within an hour or two, no pamphlets made, nothing fancy, local ones should charge you NO MORE THAN 20 bucks, if that.

I suggest using a video camera and record yourselves playing. Then convert the video to an audio file.

Recording at a studio is not easy.
