Hey guys,

I have this American Stratocaster S-S-S here, the version with the Rosewood fretboard.

The factory pickups are kinda nice but I can't get the real sound I want. I play almost exclusively Blues/Jazz/Funk/Folk music, and I want something with a nice, rich, glassy sound that would support high gain for several vices of mine: G'n'R, Marilyn Manson and Kiss :p

Since I was satisfied with my old guitars pickups, I never bothered checking, but with my new Amp, I really want someting to improve my sound the way I like.

So, if you have suggestions, go ahead!

Thanks!

they are. but Rock Monkey Guitars is a better deal IMO. the the smoothe groove '59s.

EDIT: ****. u got the fender '57 twin amp. that's my dream amp... i love that amp so much.

In fact, I wanna sound something like if B.B. King and Eric Clapton had children together.

And I love my amp too :p It is worth every single cent :p

^... just go check out the website.

if you didn't know, my BJ is an alternative of the twin amp that i want.
but does the job surprisingly well. i can crank it too. and it's got a real fat overdrive. very close to clapton's recent tone.

Thanks for the RMG reference, seems to have really nice products. I'll check around a little more but I think that's what I'll get

^haha you don't 'have' to set in with them. i just personally have good experience from him, superior customer service that you can just ask the winder what he can do if you want *insert band/guitarist name* kind of tone through *insert amp here*. it's awesome.

but here are alternates (just cuz i like u from having a strat + '57 twin):
Lindy Fralin
Bareknuckle Pickups
Wolfetone
Stephen Design
Swineshead
Lace Sensor
Fender
Seymour Duncan
Dimarzio
EMG
GFS Pickups

Disclaimer: and i'm sure there's a lot more. but that list goes from best to worst in my opinion. but others have other opinions. to get the vintage'y sound you want (and i want too.) with awesome response to picking dynamics, get them custom wound.

clapton uses fender vintage noiseless pups today....
as for bb king, you´ll have to get an es 335!

check out the texas specials too for that SRV sound!

I heard negative comments for the Texas Special.

Also, can I insert a humbucker for my bridge pickup, knowing that the guitar itself has a S-S-S setup?

Anyways thank you, I always thought that EMG and Seymour Duncan were the main pickups companies, but I was wrong :p

clapton uses the vintage noiseless, but that's because his guitar has the mid boost preamp, and turns out that vintage noiseless sounds decent before those. normally though, vintage noiseless and other noiseless seems to have high output impedance, which then gets their tone sucked through your cables before it gets to the amp. that's kinda why they aren't preferred. clapton also uses wireless systems, but does he sound bad? hell no. clapton does whatever he wants, he can still sound good.

but thats not the same with other people. john mayer tries to get good sound. $200 cables, crazy pickups, he's a gearhead. his sound is awesome (from the crossroads '07 concert), but is his sound that much better than clapton's sound? no.
