I don't know if there's already a thread for this, so tell me if there is.

My favorite WOULD BE Trivium's The Crusade, but they're metalcore so they don't count. With that note, my favorite metal instrumental song is Orion by Metallica. The song doesn't really have to be "metal" I guess, but it should be by a metal band.

What is/are your favorite(s)?

Can we still, to this day, not have a "what song do you masturbate to" thread without it starting with Metallica? Please? or, these days, Opeth? Please? Guys, get out more. Please.

Perfection or Vanity (?) by Dimmu Borgir.

*insert Pelican song*
*Insert Red Sparowes song*
"Pendulous Skin"- Mastodon (there's vocals, sure, but they're incoherent, rambling vocals. No lyrics to speak of).
"The Wanderer"- Emperor

And, more, of course, but those are the first that pop into my head.

Hahahah, so ****ing right on. Many people's metal tastes are still quite stereotyped it seems......

Well, they are so many decent ones, but my favorites that fall under the category of real metal are E.B.E. by Rusty Cooley and Meshuggah album Sol Niger Within, which is actually one continuous song, or track....most of it qualifies for instrumental though there is some talking and screaming within.....

Dude, Trivium being metalcore or not, The Crusade is totally a badass metal instrumental. Best I've ever heard.

Putting my hatred for Triviumk aside, that song is still complete gash, even by their low standards.

Death - Voice of the soul

Before they went more towards metalcore Shadows Fall had some great ones (& still do):
Casting Shade, Prelude to Disaster, The Great Collapse.
Nile has some good instrumentals, as well as some wierd ones too, like in Spawn of Uamenti, they use Alligator And Crocodile growls (not the vocal style) as samples.
If you see me in the pit, know that I'm only there because the metal forum is moving slowly.
