This thread is for people that can solve the Rubik's cube and are kind of geeks with it.

If anyone can solve it, what is your best time, and what method do you use?

I use the Fridrich F2L for the first two layers. Then, I just continue with the layer-by-layer method. Although, I do know four PLL algorithms. If I ever get into a postition that I know the move for I do it.

Seems like there's already a Rubik's Cube thread.

Meh

It's not hard.

You gotta have the balls to sacfrice the cubes on the same colour on the same side.

How fast can you do it? My fastest recorded was about 55 seconds.

My best time is 23.00 seconds flat! It was a lucky solve. Usually my solves are between 35 and 45 seconds.

Edit: My best time now is 16.33 seconds. I now use the full fridrich method. I average around 22 seconds.

wah!?! some of those times are crazy not record times by any means but still according to speedcubing.com only 1710 people world wide have ever gone under 1 minute in a competition... if your that good you should enter one of them cause thats nuts. ive only beat 2 before and my best was an hour lol i envy those guys going under 10 seconds though specifically Ron van Bruchem who recently did 9.55 for a new world record... insane...

I can solve the first side in like 30 seconds. Suck on that bitches.

Why not? What's the problem?

I'm not very good at them. I can get the first two top rows, but I never have been able to get the last one. It's hard.

Thats actually the easiest pert for me. theres only three algorithms you gotta remember. Get the cross, the get the corners in the right spot, then flip the corners.

I had a cube around here. Can't find it now.

Had fun, playing with it for hours. Never used the algorithms, partially because when I tried I couldn't get them to work and I kind of felt like it was cheating. I was only able to ever solve one side, but I had a lot of fun trying.

A buddy of mine got a 4x4x4 for Christmas. It's neat.

I got Rubik's Revolution, which unfortunately is NOT a real Rubiks cube.

heh.. um.. i think i'm an idiot...

i never got the rubix cube.. actually 9/10 times i'd just f*ck it up worse or only get one side to be a solid color :/

My best time is 28.7. I set that today at work.

I use Cross, F2L, OLLe, OLLc, PLL. Well I'm learning PLL, that'll be a while. ****ing G permutations. Anyone else here use a 3-look ll, and have any tips on PLL?

EDIT: New record - 26.14, woot

can i be kool liek u?

Well, my fastest solve has been 1:23 with using the layer method, but I was thinking about looking into the Fridrich method. As for my 4x4x4 Rubik's, I can only manage a solve in a bout 10 minutes, but I don't have the parity algorithms memorised, so it can be a bitch.

Ehh, I use that algorythm in which you spin it randomly while watching TV....

It works all the time, trust me (my brain unconsciously makes the algorythms itself and applies them while remembering the initial colours of the faces and determine which one is which with the rotation of my hands (remember, I am watching TV)).

I just ordered a 4X4X4 and a 5X5X5 off Amazon. I should be occupied for the next few weeks.

As for time, I never really bothered to actaully time myself. I just like to do patterns. Can anyone else do a cube in a cube in a cube?

I also like to do them on acid.

I just use the layer method, and for the 2nd layer, I use the free corner in the 1st layer.

Not quite as fast, I know... I have better things to do than memorize a bunch of algorithms.

My best time is 57 seconds.

The only time the Rubik's cube has come in handy is picking up chicks. And even then, it doesn't work very well. "Hey babe, I can solve this in 30 seconds, guess what else I can do in 30 seconds."

you should add that to the MINDF**K thread, cause i just pooped a brick.
