[5*9+(4/3)(9/7)-8^3+(0.991-4.908)] / 4√6!
to 4 decimal places

I got -288.2631 but my friend got the same thing only positive.

the asterisk is multiplication and the '4√6!' part is what the whole equation is divided by. And it's (not sure how to say it) the 4th root of 6!, not 4*√6!.

Also 6! is 720.

Thanks

Strange, I got -90.6

Either way, the fourth root of 6! can be positive or negative.

Hence, solving the equation will give both a positive and negative answer.

Oh ****, forgot about the negative and positive roots... can someone show their work?

euhm, I'm getting -90.6. Been a while since I got this, could be wrong...

[5*9+(4/3)(9/7)-8^3+(0.991-4.908)] / 4√6!

(4/3) * (9/7) = 1.714...

0.991 - 4.908 = -3.997

5*9 = 45

8^3 = 512

45 + 1.714 = 46.714

ANS - 8^3 = -465.2857

-465.2857 + (-3.997) = -469.2827

-469.2827 / fourth root of 720 = + or - 90.5944 (4dp)

This is how I solved it,

[5*9+(4/3)(9/7)-8^3+(0.991-4.908)] / 4√6!
[(5*9)+((4/3)(9/7))-(512*3)-3.917] / 4√6! I put everything in brackets first
(45+1.7143-1536-3.917) / 5.18
-1493.2027/5.18
-288.2631 I didn't do the negative 4th root of 720, but is this right for positive?

Why the hell did you do (512 x 3)?

I'm getting ~90.6 too.

Simplify:

[5*9+(4/3)(9/7)-8^3+(0.991-4.908)] / 4√6!
= (45+36/21-512-3.917)/4√720
= +- 469.2027/5.1800
= +- 90.5790

Maybe just a typo bye 0.991 - 4.908 doesn't equal 3.997.

EDIT: Sorry, typo.

It equals -3.917

and +(-3.917) = -3.917

Whoops, I don't know whether it was a typo or I put 911 instead of 991 into my calculator.

Either way, it was still 90.6 to 3sf, but it changed when I put it to 4dp (I wondered why my answer after I wrote out the working was different to my other).
