Hi,
My band Electric Nightmares or Electric Nightma as my username seems to have gone for some strange reason, have a female singer, which is cool. We thought we'd try some Acoustic songs and Some electric songs that she will have no problem singing at all, she is a really good singer. We're a rock/hard rock band and we're looking for some well known covers to play at some gigs we have coming up as we didn't want to perform a full set of our own songs and have no one sing along to :-) since we're from England although people like me and you will know Kiss songs or Metallica classics like Whiplash, they wont. So we were looking for some songs that people who come to see us can recognise and enjoy themselves with. We are pretty tight and have an amazing drummer, decent bass player thats developing quickly, a tight rythm guitarist and although I don't like to judge me, I am quite good on guitar and can play alot of Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai & Joe Satriani. I'm 14, and the rest of the band are 12, 13, 14 & 16. So please, fire away with your suggestions :-).

We currently have 3 cover songs sorted.

Alice Cooper - I'm Eighteen
Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer (Acoustic Version)
Iron Maiden - Run To The Hills

All suggestions are welcomed :-)

Verse Chorus Verse- Nirvana

The lyrics should connect pretty well with a female singer.

Most rock songs dont go that bad with a girl singer... Give me head (I forget who its by tho just look it up) a local band who my friend is in and has a girl singer did a kick arse cover of this... Most rock songs can use a girl singer. Just listen to some with her ask her to sing along after a couple of listens, see how she goes...

I don't know how big Fleetwood Mac was in England, but they have some really good female vocals. Not really hard rock though.

I think I already put this in a similar thread, but if you can get a male vocalist as well, you should try "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" by Meat Loaf.

Maybe some Lacuna Coil? They use a lot of female vocals and male/female harmonies.

You can adapt anything to a female singer if she is versatile enough. In my old band, we did some Rolling Stones covers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jimi Hendrix. Don't restrict yourself to bands that have a girl singer. Be open-minded. It will help you in your later life.
