I thought it might be interesting to see what sentences members here use (or have used in the past) to remember the names of the guitar strings... i dare say this has been discussed before.

For me, starting with the high E i use:

Every Beautiful Guitar Deserves Amps Everyday

Or, starting from the low E:

Every Amp Deserves Guitars/Basses Everyday

... keep sharing.

Well in Dutch you can say: "Een Aap Die Geen Banaan Eet", which means "a monkey that doesn't eat bananas".

Kinda like that for me, except

i actually learn them, so E A D G B E

More like that. I just remember them, E A D G B E, kinda like how I learned Pi, 3.1415926535897932384626433 (except that I remember it mostly in segments of 3).

(sorry, just had to show off, not like it's anything special tho )

That's the point... i didn't have to!

Anyway, i've memorised the string names (helped to begin with by using an acronym). I was interested to read what acronyms others used. Memory aids have their place i guess - some people need them, some don't.

Yea I just learnt them too. It comes naturally, I didn't really try too much....

Try playing an open string (randomly, without looking) and guessing what note it is. Thats funner I think..
86% of the people who frequent the "Electric Guitar" forum would say that they have played guitar for under 5 years.

Learn the E, A, and D chords, and use them in a song, with their bassnotes added. Remember that the top and bottom are the same. Remember the G and B strings, and then you have them, only 2 strings actually memorized.
