Ok, so lots of people here have played Legend of Zelda OoT (Ocarina of Time) I'm guessing from the many pictures from the demotivational thread. So in spirit, I think that Zelda should have it's own thread. Just about anything that relates to it, like the music, plot, gaming strategies, other game appearances, etc. It's a timeless game series that is up for discussion easily.

OK, I'll start: So does anyone else find that in the Ocarina of Time, the megaton hammer is used only a handful of times during the game. I mean, there are so many substitutions for it when in combat, and you use mostly during the end of the fire temple. It always seemed a little pointless to me.
#2
I used the megaton hammer in the final battle against Ganon when I didn't have the big goron sword.
#4
I believe that the megaton hammer could be used in the Ganondorf ping-pong fight to deal more damage than the master sword.

And it is also the best bet against Ganon when your sword gets knocked away.

Dude, the Bigoron sword was so much better, though.

That thing was f'ing amazing. No joke.

Cakeandpiemofo, Yeah, I got the biggoron sword so I never needed it. That's what I meant by substitutions. There was always a way around having to use the megaton hammer besides in the fire temple.
#8
when i first got to ganandorf i didnt realise you could use your sword to hit back his like power ball things, so i used a bottle, i was young

Anyway, am I the only one who thinks the water temple from OoT is cake? Everybody talks about how hard it is, but the Shadow Temple was the hardest for me.

I hated that ****ing temple dude, it pissed me off when I had to raise the water levels and what not, it was endless, the Shadow Temple wasnt all that bad for me though.

I think one of the reasons the GBC oracle games were so great was that it really integrated every item well and they were fun to use. e.g. magnetic gloves, Roc's cape, cane of somaria, magic boomerang, etc. They were used throughout the game in a variety of ways rather than in just one dungeon... whereas, say, the Minish Cap, items were forgotten about as soon as you got out of the dungeon. So I see what you mean when you say the megaton hammer is pointless.

I've been playing Wind Waker a lot recently, since I don't have anything but a Gamecube in my dorm, and I left Twilight Princess at home. I really want to get my own DS so I can play Phantom Hourglass too.

I was scared to go in the Shadow Temple when I was younger , but last summer I finally bucked up and went in. I found it to be pretty easy.

i thought twilight princess was uber epic, i logged 40 hours in 3 days to beat it
The final battle was the best part.

Possessed Princess Vs. Link > Wolf Vs. Giant Hog/Wolf thing > Horseback Battle with Ganondorf > One-on-one sword duel.

EPIC.

The water temple was tedious, not hard, but man, that fight with dark link.

EPIC!!!

The forest temple, for some reason, scared me so much when I was 8.

It was those mother****ing wallmasters. You know, the things that came down and just killed you by dragging you up and eating you or something like that. If I had a fear when I was a little kid, it was that wallmasters would come and eat me.

Man, I should be at the get ths off your chest thread.

God, Zelda rules.

if that's the only reason you want a DS, don't get one. phantom hourglass is painfully short, half the game is spent in one annoying-ass temple that kills you if you don't beat it fast enough, and by the final visit to the temple, you're so burnt out on it that you don't want to go in it.

/rant

it would be a lot better with a bit more variety

The best thing about Zelda is the Youtube Poops making fun of The Faces of Evil.
