use proper guitar polish, do not use household polish, it will ruin the finish.. assuming you have a laquered finish..?

Use lemon oil to clean and refresh the fret board, and always wipe down after use.

Ernie Ball makes a really good guitar cleaner that you can get at most guitar shops for like $12. throw that on your guitar, and make sure you use a cloth that wont leave a whole bunch of fuzzy lint around afterwards. Do not use water or a "damp" cloth on it. Guitars are made of wood, and water exposure could warp/damage the instrument.
