I'm trying to upgrade from my Spider III...
On my own I play pretty much any style of music, but my band is an alternative/experimental outfit so I need an amp that has good cleans and distortion and handles effects well. If I had a lot of money I'd get an orange, but seeing as my price range is probably $500 american at best I need a less expensive amp with good sound quality. Suggestions?

I would pick a tube amp over a modeling amp. From what I've heard the Valvetronix don't handle pedals well.

I have the Valveking 112 and I think it's awesome. The cleans are pretty good and it has plenty of gain on the lead channel. I find it to be a very versatile amp.

You won't be sorry with a Valveking.

How does it sound with your AS73? I've got the same guitar.

Great. The AS73 handles heavy distortion without uncontrollable feedback. Good combination.

Can it do a lighter crunch as well?

Yeah, a Valveking would definitely be the better out of those two.
