Are Peavey or Vox amps a good choice for high gain shred like Vai, Satriani, and Gilbert? If not, then what kind of music would Peavey and Vox amps be best used for, just for future reference. Thanks guys, UG rocks.

I don't know about Peavey but Vox are not a good choice for high gain shred. They are more for bluesy/hendrix stuff.

Peavey - They make an array of products, most are aimed at rock/metal/shred depending on the model

Vox - mainly classic rock and 60s pop.

I agre with mattreid222. Vox is not suited for high gain shred at all. The Peavey 6150 would be pretty nice, but I'd also look into the Carvin V3.

But now Satch is getting an amp form VOX...hmmm

I'd recommend Peavey for high-gain. Series like the XXX, Windsor, 6505, JSX.......all those amps can handle high gain. Vox are more of a classic rock thing.
