Well im learning the song one by metallica and there are a few what my friend calls "sweeps" at the beginning...ive heard of sweeps before but can anyone tell me what a sweep actually is and how u do one cuz he says the one part i do doesnt sound right because i just strum it as a chord instead of doing a "sweep"

Sweeping is playing a chord, pretty much, but hitting each note singularly. SO rather than strum a chord, you "sweep" the pick across the strings to hit a note one by one while you kill the note before it. So rather than sound like "DUM" it sounds like "D-stop-U-stop-M" but faster. There's lots of lessions on it.
