I am not 100% sure on this, but I have been told that Sam Ash does not have stock, they just get guitars in, and put them on the wall. Since alot of people just go there and play them, wont buying a new guitar be like buying a used guitar. I am not sure if I trust buying a guitar at Sam Ash. Because all of the 100-800 dollar guitars an be played w/o asking a sales guy. I dont know if anyone has ever been to Sam Ash, but have i been misinformed?

I dunno, but all you need to do if that is the case is check that you like the guitar you want to buy...if it feels horrible, don't buy it...if it's a good guitar, try it

A lot of places are like that. I can't speak specifically for Sam Ash, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Use it to your advantage. Play the guitar, make sure it feels and sounds good to you, then go over it with a find toothed come. Mention that it's been out for display, point out any nicks or scratches, regardless of how small, then go over it again. Usually can get a decent price cut on things like that.

Used guitars are generally played a LOT more. I'm sure you could probably have them order another one in for you if you're THAT uncomfortable with the one they have. If it's the difference between making money and losing it, they'll choose to make it.

1. sam ash has stock.
2. never buy the fresh guitar from the back. always try the guitar you plan on walking out with.

Yeah I've often thought this, but about Guitar Center. If your getting a guitar or amp it technically is "used". Stores think of the term "used" as "previously purchased".

ofc they do :P u cant take 30% off every product some kid has tried for 5 minutes.
Nothing wrong with used gear either.
Just make sure u get a good guitar, then who cares if its mint or has a tiny scratch :P the important thing here is to get a good guitar. Mint is ofc nicer tho.

If the guitar you're trying isn't flawless then you can talk down the price so it doesn't really matter. And you get the added bonus of playing the exact guitar you're buying.

I say bonus but you should be doing it anyway.

Then would you say that it is risky to buy a guitar (ex. Agile) off of the internet?

Sam Ash has stock. When I went to get my MIM Fender Strat, I made friends with the sales guy, then asked him if he had the guitar I was trying unopened in the back. He brought out the brand new guitar still in the original box and let me open it up and check it out. It turned out to be an extraordinarily high quality guitar, way better than any of the ones I had played off the wall. So of course I bought it and now it is my favorite guitar. I prefer my particular MIM strat to almost any other strat I have ever played, except for a couple vintage ones and some rare anniversary edition MIA strat that my friend has.

I'd say it is risky but it's not a huge one.

I wouldn't do it apart from the fact that online retailers usually have a 30 no questions asked money back guarantee so if you don't like the feel of the guitar they'll refund you or get you another model.

Fear of getting damaged guitars because of ordering online is so overblown.. I've ordered all 3 of my guitars online and all 3 have been perfect.

all my guitars were ordered online or bought used. i usually have to buy guitars online cause of being a lefty and so far all 4 of the guitars i bought online are excellent. usually online sites have rebate and warranty info on the their website, the only pain in the ass thing is if something goes wrong with the guitar u either have to send it back to get fixed or void the warranty and get a local shop to fix it

No, they keep stock. I've watched them pull out unopened boxes from the back when people request it.

You should be glad you get to play them. It'd suck if you could only look at the guitars, I might try out a fender strat here and then buy one online because they cost like $700 here so..... yeah.... online shopping ftw.
