Hey hey UG, as you all know, I have a Blackheart Little Giant, so here's a bit of spam.

I took it to a rehearsal place today, and got to crank it, here's a review.

I was using my Strat and a few pedals (OCD, Fulltone wah, Muff and DMM)

First of all, in a band situation you're not gonna' get any clean headroom! But that's the point.
The 3 watt mode has a bassier sound, slightly thicker too, but with less volume and less gain.
5 watt mode, louder, bit more trebly, and more gainy, it's got a real nice amount of gain to it, much more than I'm normally used to (champ and blues Jr...), got a real nice crunch, ala Voodoo Child (Slight Return) so classic rock sort of gain, nothin too OTT, but this was using a Strat, so with an LP (hopeully one's on the way soon) it'll get crunchier, and at just the volume to be heard well over a loud drummer.

This thing takes pedals really well, and sounded heavenly with my wah, and obviously, I invented some porno music on the spot, wacka wacka.
Everything just sounds and works so much better when the amp's cranked. My OCD sounded amazing with it too, tightened everythin up and made the tone thicker and crunchier.

So.... it's a really good amp! And I'd say it's leaning towards Marshally territory.

^It's fantastic, I use it for thick reverby/echo-y sounds and durin solos.

I guess, but I think the killer ant is a great idea. 1 watt is still kind of loud, but it'd be awesome for home solo recordings. And It'd be fun to run it in stereo with my peavey.
ANNNNDDD... I need a portable amp. I will be making a small cab for it.

Yea, you could hear it well over my drummer at full volume, but he's a loud drummer.

And Sound Control sells them.

im seriosly considering getting one of these amps. why get a big heavy SS combo like the one i have now when you can get this portable, better sounding, amp for even cheaper? i really like the direction amp companys are going with these smaller tube amps like this and the VJ.

you can probably gig but don't expect to be playing any jazz. there will be no clean headroom unless you have a quiet drummer/audience
#24
i have the valve junior stack which is basically the same thing and when i play in my basement it doesn't get turned up past 9-9:30 o clock on the dial, cause its so loud. at that position its still a clean sound. i also have the cab sitting up on a 2 foot shelf so its closer to my ear. i could imagine if it was on the floor i could bring volume up to about 12 o clock at most or so before my ears would start ringing.

^^^ is it that loud? I wouldnt be playing anything but rock, so headroom isnt a concern...
With my VJ through a 1x12 cab - and the VJ is louder, you can be heard in a one-guitarist band fine. With two guitarists with tube amps, it's pretty hard to cut through. You can gig with it, but not big gigs.
The Laney Thread are big and clever. No exceptions.

every time i see one of these thread it makes me want one more. fortunatly ive already ordered one! should be here next week at the latest, and i cant wait.

It's a loud amp, I only had to have it at full volume coz we were in a small room and my drummer's mental haha, I was singin through the PA too and it got on well with that.

And if you're giggin....hmmm you'll be able to do a small gig

I got mine from the soundcontrol on roseville road so you could give them a call and check if they have any in stock. Also there is the soundcontrol store next to staples near the yorkshire post building as well, you could give them a try as well.
