fine, let me change the question,
the new question is,
WHAT GUITAR OR AMP OR PEDAL+ AMP WOULD YOU BUY IF U HAD $500

If you had $500 in your pocket I'd suggest buying one thing (or possibly saving for ONE thing)

You won't get a very good anything for 500 bucks split 3 ways.

honestly save up. but if that really is all you can pony go used. get an epi vj and a tubescreamer. i dont know what guitar but just something that feels comfortable and sounds good. you will be surprised if you play some lower end schecters or deans.

but seriously... get an orange tiny terror with your money and then save up for a decent guitar. you will be set.

forget the pedal, in my opinion, if youve got 500 to get started I'd probably just get one of those line six amps with all the different effects built in
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Line-6-Spider-III-75-Modeling-Combo-Amplifier?sku=482272

and this esp
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ESP-MH50-Electric-Guitar-with-Tremolo?sku=516688

or any of the guitars for 300 or less under this list

ah crap, just re read your deal, for under 500 not six hundred, just get a lower model amp or something i guess, anyway my point is I think you're better off getting a line six or crate amp, something that has all the effects built in (most come with foot switches) then get an ibanez, esp or jackson

lol hes spending 500 bucks, I don't use that gear but if I had to start fresh that is what I would start with, I have a friend who wanted to start out he got a guitar at a local shop it came with that line six amp and I was surprised how much stuff came with it,

tell me my gear sucks then suggest headphones? yeah that will be great if you try to jam with someone, i suppose you'd suggest plugging into some pc speakers or hey maybe he has a PA!!!

And that leaves you w/ $50 for a pedal so...

Best rig you will find for $500 IMO.

EDIT: You could substitute the guitar out for any other $300 guitar but IMO Schecter makes the best in that price range.

Please don't tell me I'm the only one that clicked this thread thinking I would learn how to make my guitar sound like a grizzly bear.
