I've been thinking about fixing up my old starter guitar that I took apart and painted but never put back together....It's an Austin strat and I was thinking about putting new pickups in (HSH layout I believe), maybe a killswitch, I'll be replacing the neck, new hardware, pickguard......The only thing I'm keeping on this thing is the body which is currently hanging in my closet from when I painted it...

So I was wondering would it be better just to buy another guitar? (This would be a backup probably) I play mostly Metal so I was wanting some pretty high output pups but I also love to play some soft stuff when just sitting around so the cleans would have to be good......Pickup suggestions? Any cheap necks that don't suck?.....I'm mostly bored and the thought crossed my mind...

Why would you spend tens of thousands of dollars to learn about a language you already speak? It was over before it even started dude
