For those of you who don't know, de la Rocha was the lead singer for Rage Against the Machine , a band that protested America's modern day society and government.

Maybe this topic has been created before , I never saw it though. I'm not even American and I believe he is what the people really need. If anyone has been a rage fan, you know de la Rocha really knows the issues in his lyrics. I'm so glad rage got back together because, the world could really use them right now.

Your opinions on this idea? Do you think he would make the good president the world needs or do you think this is a bad idea?

~ On a side note here is a cool RATM video from 2000 called Sleep Now in the Fire.

He's a musician, not any sort of person who knows how to run a country. The idea is, as they say, retarded.

Tom would make a better president than Zack.

at least he graduated from Harvard with a degree in political science.

That angry idiot in a position of legal power is the last thing we need.

Tom Morello would be tolerable in office, but still... no.

there's a big difference in protesting gov't and running it.

You think Bush runs the country by himself? Hes got hundreds after hundreds helping him, hes just the head figure head.

Why would we want an idiot who seemingly protests everything normal people enjoy EVER in office ruining it for the rest of us? I remember being a RATM fanboy, hating the government (with no actual reason) and saying how stupid everything is. They're just plain immature. They might make great music, but their ideas are weak.

I had Mustaine in mind for that job actually. Rocha can be Vice!

A country with Mustaine for President would be a country in ruins.

Policies would consist of
  • Firing employees because you don't like them
  • Annoying former acquitances
  • Thinking about your own interests consistently
  • Enjoying being the centre of everything
  • Loving thy self
  • Numerous wars and economic recessions

I think we have an understanding

I wouldn't go that far, but their ideas are unrealistic and impossible. (ESPECIALLY in the US)

Their ideas are what exactly?

Three of those points were the same one. And what the hell is wrong with those qualities, he sounds perfect for the job!

If I am wrong correct me, but their views are extremely socialist and near anarcho-syndicalist. Not gonna work here.

Well they could work, it would just require more than a single presidential term to enact the changes.

i'm sure Tom Cruise would vote for him. Maybe he'd get a vote from Alec Baldwin or Tim Robbins or Satan.

And you know, millions of people willing to give up their basic human rights to have a "fair" government. And congress would have to approve completely abandoning a constitution that has worked for around 200 years, making us the longest standing current government. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Thats ridiculous, no one can predict the future.

And as far as examples, Rage recorded a video outside NYSE and it ended up being shut down midday. And Zach de la Rocha has done lots of work helping the Zapatista movement.

Since I'm too lazy, could you please enlighten me with some of Noam Chomsky's ideals? I'm rather curious. And I'd like to hear them in your words, because wikipedia far overcomplicates things. And maybe how they would work, and under what conditions? Just a sampler, come on, please?

I haven't read about Chomsky's ideals yet, but i was not talking about his ideals but about what he is saying. If you read what he's saying i think more people would understand why RATM exists. Here are some of the things that Chomksy is saying: powerfull countries are ****ing 3rd world countries over by privatizing their natural resources (Bolivia), taking away their presidents and trying to put dictators (Venezuela, Chile) and the US media is doing nothing in informing the public about important things because most channels are owned by a couple of private companies that have the same goal....so we have to do something to change what's happening because if we don't the world is going to get more ****ed up...i've only read one book by him and reading another right now tho

Sounds like a conspiracy nut to me.
Has it ever occured to you why those countries are 3rd world? Why aren't they on the level of the USA or the UK? Think about how us 1st world countries got to where we are? We all started from the ground at one point, and a couple of us actually took the initiative to revolt against other countries we felt we "oppressing us"; why can't those countries do the same?

errrr? think before you speak

It might work, but it would never happen considering most elections are rigged by the people with some money.
