ok, so im looking at buying the gibson custom shop 1958 les paul standard and i know the 50's LPs have like thicker necks and the 60's necks are more slim. So my question is: Do the necks between the two really differ that much? I love the 1958 and i havent found a 60s model that i like.

well if you like the 58, sounds like you've solved your own problem

The difference of thickness is little, but the necks are shaped drastically differently. The 58 is sort of D shape with plenty o shoulder. the 60 has a shallower C shape with little shoulder. this makes the difference

they are pretty different, but it's all about whats feels best to you. I prefer the 60s neck because I like smaller neck.
