I agree with you 150% that it is overrated.

But

When it came to influncing the metal genre (even more the thrash sub genre), it's what many many bands used as the "Thrash Metal for Dummies" guidebook. I love Kill 'em all and Ride the Lightning is personaly my favorite album by them but influence wise as a whole, Master of Puppets shines through.

Thats just my 2 cents on that

Yeah, I suppose you are right about that.

I just think that Metallica lost that raw, punk rock/NWOBHM side to their music when MOP was released. Kill 'Em All (my favorite), and Ride The Lightning are much grittier and more agressive.

Glad we can agree on that, though.
