Im very confused about how scales work.
Could you guys suggest to me the basic ones that work in drop D?
Cheers mateys.

any notes played on the low E string of scales you know get pushed up a whole step. ie start on 3rd fret of you low E turns into 5th freat of your low D string.

a scale is just a series of notes. when you tune to drop D, you have two D strings, just as you have two E strings in standard tuning. whatever positions you fret on the 4th string in a particular scale, you can now do the same on the 6th, just as the 1st and the 6th can be fretted in the same position when you're in standard tuning.

Best advice... just don't use the sixth string for writing solos
When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all

Scales are not shapes.

if you know what the notes are, you will find it a lot easier.
